World Hearing Day is held on 3 March each year to raise awareness on how to prevent deafness and hearing loss and promote ear and hearing care across the world. At its headquarters in Geneva, WHO organizes an annual World Hearing Day event. International Federation of Hard of Hearing Young People (IFHOHYP) joins this global initiative to celebrate the date in 2023.

The Accessibility committee of IFHOHYP prepared the virtual exhibition „More than HoH or DEAF” for this day. Conception is: hearing or non-hearing criteria should not be used as the sole criterion for defining us as beings.  We are HOH or deaf, but also citizens, relatives, workers, students, etc.

The Accessibility committee of IFHOHYP invited HoH / deaf people from African, Asian, Arabic and Latin American regions of the world to submit some information about themselves to inspire each other. The Result is the virtual gallery with portraits and inspiring statements that we are more than just HoH but human being with abilities, responsibilities and dreams.

Click on this link to go to our virtual exhibit, and then use the side arrows to advance the slides, or use the arrow at the bottom of the screen to advance the slides automatically. When you open the exhibition at first, you may need to wait a short time before starting to move through the different slides to view the exhibition.
